The short answer

The Warren Township Committee meets Thursday, August 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Susie B. Boyce Court Room, 44 Mountain Boulevard, to hold the public hearing on Ordinance 26-22, a $1,140,160 appropriation for Dealaman Nature Trail and Pond improvements. Third quarter property taxes carry a grace period that ends Monday, August 24\. Stirling Road is closed at the Stony Brook bridge through mid December. The next recycling collection is Thursday, August 27.

Here is what is on the calendar in Warren Township this week, plus the two deadlines that matter most.

## The one item to watch Thursday

**Ordinance 26-22** comes up for second reading and public hearing at the Township Committee meeting on August 20\. It appropriates **$1,140,160** for improvements to the Dealaman Nature Trail and Pond, funded by a matching grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Garden State Preservation Trust together with money from the Township Open Space Trust Fund. The ordinance was introduced July 16.

As of Sunday it was the only item listed on the township's pending ordinances page, and the full August 20 agenda had not yet been posted to the Agenda Center. If you plan to speak, check [warrennj.org/AgendaCenter](https://www.warrennj.org/AgendaCenter?ref=john-mangini.ghost.io) closer to the meeting for the final agenda.

Deadline, August 24

Third quarter property taxes were due August 1\. The grace period ends Monday, August 24\. Payments received after that date accrue interest back to August 1\. Online payment through the township portal stays open until 10 p.m. on the 24th, e-checks are free and card payments carry a 2.55 percent processing fee. The lock box in the Town Hall vestibule accepts checks only and must be fed by 4:00 p.m. Tax office questions go to 908-753-8000, extension 231 or 263.

## Roads and utilities

**Water main breaks near Chesterfield Drive and Woods Road.** Warren Township Police issued a Nixle alert Saturday morning reporting two separate breaks in that area. Some residences may be without water while repairs are underway. Residents with issues are directed to contact police headquarters.

**Stirling Road remains closed.** The Somerset County replacement of Bridge L1014 over Stony Brook, between Community Place and Dillon Court, closed the road to both vehicles and pedestrians on August 3 and is scheduled to run through mid December. Driveway access is being maintained for properties inside the work zone. The general detour is Mountain Avenue and Hillcrest Road. Heavy vehicles over four tons are routed to Valley Road, King George Road, Mount Bethel Road and Mountain Boulevard.

**Paving continues.** Old Smalleytown Road between Stirling Road and Stiles Road was closed for paving on August 6 as part of this year's overlay program, which covers 24 streets and five miles at a contract cost of $945,800.

## Trash and recycling

The next curbside recycling collection for Warren is **Thursday, August 27**. Warren runs on the every other Thursday cycle within the Somerset County program. Remaining 2026 dates after that are September 10 and 24, October 8 and 22, November 5 and 19, and December 3, 17 and 31\. Material should go curbside the night before.

Warren does not publish a fixed municipal bulk pickup calendar. For large item collection, the Department of Public Works line is 908-753-1223.

## Still worth knowing

Township offices remain at the temporary location at **3 Mountainview Road, Suites 100 and 102**, following the February sprinkler pipe break at Town Hall. Mail still goes to 46 Mountain Boulevard. Police and Municipal Court never moved and remain at 44 Mountain Boulevard. Public Works stays at 1 Bardy Road.

Summer hours are in effect through September 4\. Township offices are open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Regular hours resume after Labor Day.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment does not meet in September because of the Labor Day schedule. Its next meeting is **October 5**. The Planning Board meets next on **Wednesday, August 26** at 7:30 p.m.
